An actual superhero DnD party may be in the works, as revealed by Tom Holland at the world premiere for Pixar’s latest animated film, Onward. Upon being asked by IGN if he had dabbled in the world of the number one table-top RPG Dungeons and Dragons, Holland replied in the negative, but that he had discussed with Chriss Pratt about actually playing a DnD session with some of the Avengers cast.
Needless to say, this revelation caused a media uproar. Holland is optimistic about the venture, saying "an Avengers DnD session... would be amazing" and that they want to film it "because it would be really fun."
Surge of popularity
The popularity of DnD has seen a recent resurgence, and its place at the top of the charts for table-top RPG is undisputed. In this day and age, more and more people are also revealing their geekdom, which used to be a pseudo-taboo in the past. As such, many celebrities have publicly displayed their love for DnD. Some noteworthy ones include none other than Vin Diesel, Manganiello, and Deborah Ann Woll. Click here for a detailed report on celebrities who love DnD.
Which character would you want to see the most in the world of DnD?
What kind of game will it be?
The session could be a traditional one with DnD rules, with the party members being some of the Avengers cast. On the other hand, Holland admitted to not having played any DnD before, and it is not known whether any of the cast of Avengers is a DnD fan either. That means it could be just Holland and Pratt introducing some of their superhero friends to the world of DnD, and that introductory session would be filmed. Whatever case it is, only good things can come from such a fantasy crossover, leading to a wider expansion of DnD reach for sure.
